Air (conditioning) problems

Anyone having issues with their air-conditioning? Mine has been in the shop 5 times, everything possible has been changed and the air continues to stop working. There is hissing noise constantly that sounds like a valve opening and closing slowly, dont know if this is the cause but something is wrong. Let me know please if anyone has had this issue and if they got it resolved!
Thanks

Many people have troubles with the temperature controller, blowing warm air until the setting is turned to the minimum temperature, only then beginning to work.

I haven't heard of hissing valve-like noises.

Hmm... I wonder if the new model a/c is similar top the earlier 450? We have some smarties in Canada who have had their cars since late 2004 / early 2005 and who have their a/c repaired every spring. PITA if you're past warranty!

Me too

You're not alone. I don't have a hissing noise but my '09 smart has had problems that our '08 never had. Read about it here: Puny air conditioner

Regards,

Dan

Our '09 Passion sounded like Darth Vader when we tried the AC for the first time in March. It worked only okay. We didn't try it again until this week, and it alternated between "slightly cool" and "barely warmer than outside". We took it in to get a key replaced (we lost one) and my husband asked them to check the air conditioner: they said the asthmatic noises were NOT normal, it definitely wasn't working right, and it needs a condenser. We're waiting for that part to come in.

Read the "Moral of the Story" from my previous post:

AC repair saga finally over...

The car went through several dealerships and many part swappings until it finally arrived at a dealer with a tech who knew something about AC systems.

I'm not trying to brag about my A/C cooling system ...
try a thermometer that has a rear sensor. Stick the sensor into the left center grill and set the fan to second setting from bottom. With A/C at lowest setting and Recirculate on, you should see about 40-41 degrees F on a moderately hot day. That's how my unit works and I'm delighted and hope that it remains so well past the warranty

Is the AC blowing cold then you are OK.... the reason about hissing sound is the temperature defference that the orifice valve changes..
