Auto dimming mirror installation?

Anyone given any thought to replacing the inside mirror with an auto dimmer and/or compass / additional lighting / Homelink one?
Anyone ever taken the mirror off? Is it a conventional wedge or cam mount?
Once it gets warmer I'll feel more like crawling around the car to find some answers myself, just thought I'd do a little brain-picking here...

I am having one with compass, auto dimming and home link installed when the car arrives. The dealer is going to get the mirror and do it. I talked to a company that sells the mirrors and they said they have adapters that will fit all including smart. The car will not be here for a week or two but will post when the job is finished

That is what I thought, but, the home link gets rid of having to carry a garage door opener plus I normally keep my cars 10 or more years so it is not a real large cost based on that

Homelink

You can also buy the Homelink opener separately without the mirror. I did this as I need 3 openers to get into 1) my neighborhood, 2) through the gate in my property and 3) into the garage. These cost about $140 and clip on the visor. The unit is about as large as one single opener. I did not want the big 10 inch wide mirror as most of it is blocked by the seats. But - to each his own.;)

Well one of the other things I wanted was a compass and the self dimming feature. Plus I had the thermometer hooked up to read inside temp rather than the usual outside temp. It also has what is called a PRNDL feature that works at night, so it is kind of a toy also

Hollywood: My wife and I, up until the Euro got so high used to spend three months a year in Paris, probably my favorite place on earth. We had access to a place just off Rue Buci in the 6th. Hope the Euro lets us return while we are still young enough to travel.

I have these mirrors in by BMW and the smart. Have only had the smart for a day but love the mirror from my experience in the BMW. As the smart has an outside air temperature reading the installer fixed it so the mirror gives me the temperature in the car. Hope you are able to find one and especially someone who can install it
