Blacked out headlights

Well if you saw my post yesterday you might have realized that I removed my stock headlights to send them off to Dan at smartune.net so he could rip them apart and paint them for me. Different then his which are stylized after the brabus headlights I was more interested in a flat black to match the rest of my car and to reveal additional detail from the cool headlights. I was also very excited to get the orange reflector out of there and in the end I am very pleased with them.

As soon as my black panels come in and my wheels come back from powdercoating I should be set.

Very interesting look; once you get your stealth smart together just make sure you park it in well lighted areas at night to avoid somebody running over it in the dark.

I assume you'd already considered this but the car is now non-compliant with the FMVSS due to no amber front reflectors. Not that anybody will notice.

How much did smartune charge for the job? Also, did you keep the parking light and if so, are you using a chrome stealth bulb as well?

How difficult was to remove the orange reflector out? Did you have to replace the lens?

Would you be back in compliance if you have an amber bulb ?

How about an amber bulb with a watered-down flat black coating ?

Is it an amber reflector? in Europe it is clear but with an amber bulb.

This wouldn't stop you tinting it though.

Wonder how difficult to get a EU clear reflector to swap into US lights when they are opened up for painting? Any thoughts?
