Body Panels "Exchanged" by smart centers?

this was found on the 'smart canada' site:

"$1630.00 Bodypanel fresh up kit
Unique to smart: Treat your smart fortwo to a new exterior colour in no time (all current standard colours available). The bodypanels are exchanged by your local smart centre. "

does this mean you 'swap' your panels for a new set and STILL have to pay over $1600? OR does this mean that you can simply order a complete second set for that price?

AND if they are just 'exchanging' them, what does the smart center do with them? are the used panels passed on to someone else later?

anyone in Canada know the answer?

I haven't changed mine but the retail price of panels is $899 black, white, yellow and $1099 red, blue, silver.

You get to keep your original panels and installation would cost extra.

Actual cost from the dealer is $810 (Black, White Yellow) + $89 for a hardware kit. If you're carefull you can use all the hardware that you take off of it for the new install. Most of them are metal screws but there are a few plastic pieces. I'm doing a panel switch to Tropical Palms next week and plan on shooting a video of it. It may take a week or two but will post the link to it here.
