Dave, thanks for your information! I purchased and installed the WebElectric kit this weekend in my smart cabrio AND my Ford F250 with topper. Works great on both and installation was easy as could be.

However, it appears the cabrio wiring might be different from the coupe, since both wires were multi-colored instead of one being solid brown. I just put the line device on the one I thought to be hot and had my lovely wife active the brake, with the key on. Yep, it lit up and I followed instructions from there and in less than ten minutes the pulser was installed and working just fine.

THANKS for your time!

No Brake Lights

Do you think I did all this by just cutting the wire?

Can not find out which fuse is for the brake lights.
My Smart lost brake lights and the dealer found the factory installed an incorrect fuse. Maybe the following infor about my car will help:

Found fuse 38 (that controls the brake lamp switch) to be blown and that a 7.5 amp fuse was installed from the factory where a 15 amp fuse should have been present. Installed fuse. Cleared faults and test drove vehicle. Everything OK at this time. Case #DTAC1128."

Brake Flasher

I was installing the flasher unit on my Cabrio and now 7 days later I still do not have my car back from the dealer.

I cut one of the wires and hooked up my volt meter and could not find any power with the switch on and the brake depressed. Could not get the car out of park so I had it towed to the dealer.

He said the shifter was bad but now is saying that the brake switch is bad. I don't know if I will have to pay for this or not but its been there since last
Friday. Part was lost in shipping is what I am told.

I don't see what I did could hurt anything. I cut the wire without the switch on. I don't see how this could make the brake switch bad.

I will just have to wait till I get the car back.

I couldn't agree with you more. Everytime that I see one of these I have the impulse to pull them aside and tell them that they have a short or a bad connection in their brake light

What I find really, REALLY annoying is looking in my rearview mirror and seeing some JERK that's NOT paying attention and doesn't realize that traffic has STOPPED in front of him until it's ALMOST too late to stop! NOT ONLY is it annoying, but REALLY, REALLY SCARY!! SO........let's see here.........ANNOY that JERK and HOPEFULLY get his ATTENTION, or have him smash into my rear end and total out my brand new smart that I've waited TWO YEARS for and would probably have to wait another two years to get another one.......if I survived the impact!! So after far too many CLOSE CALLS of that nature just in the last MONTH, I hooked up the pulser two days ago, so I'll gladly be out there ANNOYING those poor unfortunate IDIOTS that want to do everything but DRIVE THE CAR!!! IF the pulsing can possibly break through to ANNOY them.........at least I've gotten their ATTENTION!! I suppose the folks that replaced their inadequate HORN with one of the Italian Air Horns should be severely chastised & reprimanded for.......GOD FORBID........SCARING someone out of their STUPOR while the're driving along, talking on their cell, eating a sandwich, and typing on their laptop?? How inconsiderate you must think all of us for actually wanting someone to SEE us and not crash into us while they're doing all those other really IMPORTANT things when they're SUPPOSED to be paying attention and driving their car!!!

O.K. NOW I've got it!! You're right! We ARE like little mosquitos out there, and ironically, the ones that seem to be paying the LEAST amount of attention to their driving are the ones in BIG, HEAVY, GONNA DO A LOT OF DAMAGE vehicles!! Probably because they know that they're probably not going to get hurt........they're driving TANKS! ;) My brother decided a number of years ago that he wanted a Gold Wing. I'd already "been there, done that", and I tried to talk him into getting a headlight modulator. He didn't, and some old guy pulled out directly in front of him and his wife at a 2-way stop on a country road. Now my brother no longer has a wife! I'm a firm believer that flashing lights attract attention. Your "brain" just automatically reacts to them...........it can't help it. Which is why every emergency vehicle out there has them. So...........for me, getting someone's attention and hopefully, preventing an accident from happening, is more important than the possibility of annoying someone slightly! I get annoyed (slightly) at having to take my shoes off for security inspections when I fly, but I'll suffer the annoyance! It's a small price to pay in order to be safe. Ditto for the pulser!
