Changing out the carpet

One of the mods I want to do next spring is to change out the black carpet to red. I really like the way the white & red Brabus looks and one of the changes that really stands out is the red carpet.I also want to change the top of the dash to black and paint all the white plastic to the dark gray so it matches the rest of the plastic.anyone have any ideas on how to do the carpet?

I'm not sure how you'd do it but that'd be awesome! Looks really nice and the white and red Brabus.

I've had the carpet out of my car and think that if you can get the seats and console out, it isn't hard to remove the carpeting. The easiest way to accomplish this would be to swap it, but since there are no other factory colors (right now) you're going to have to make it.

The original carpet has a textured bottom made out of foam which allows the flat surface that's seen in the car. Making a template of the original carpet and installing raw carpet isn't going to look good, and will put the wiring and electronics attached to the floor art risk for damage.

However, you can use the original carpet as a template and make a perfectly fitting "skin" to go right over the original carpeting. The only areas that will need some additional work would be cutting pieces to cover the heat-molded areas over the console and undere the dash. These could be attached from the bottom using carpet seam tape.

What a great I idea maybe it is worthwhile to get my carpet to look like new again, I was about to give up on it , just the occasional vaccum. Who was so thoughtless as to make black carpet in a car? DUH!

Nice job Jet! Looks great!

nonuro - somewhere there is a thread buried on this site that has someone who did a very nice detailed step by step of when they pulled their interior to put in sound deadener. I've been meaning to dig up that thread, but I suck when it comes to using the "search engine".

Ok,but where to buy the red carpet? I've asked for samples from several companies on line and haven't received anything so I chalked it up to Chicago being a massive blackhole when it comes to information like this.
