Count me in! Sounds like a great idea.

I first through about the plug in connector. But, I did not want to store another plug/wire in the car. If you went that rout you could leave everything inside and make the connector wire longer. With my set up I can get a jump or hook up a charger from anyone. Also, My setup is short proof.

Not arguing about the studs...
My application if more for running power inverter off of the smart with the engine running... though the same connnector could be used for charging.. or with the proper cable jump starting..

You set up is the same thing many tow truck and police cars have to jump others. they just plug in jumper cables and hook up to other car

YEs..exactly...
the 50amp version of this connector..

Anderson Power Connectors, SB & Power Pole

looks just like a smaller version of the one you see on tow trucks and police cars...

Digger,

Great job

Glad I didn't have to break out the "boys"

I'm in if you put a kit together

OK here is the parts list.

I got the charging studs on E-bay

I went to Home Depot and picked up 6 foot of red and 6 foot of black 6awg copper wire.

I went to advanced auto parts and picked up a box of 1.5 inch 1/4 inch bolt and lock nuts, and 4 2awg gold connectors in the battery section

The brackets I made myself. L shape... about 1/2 inch wide for the negative post For the positive post I had to get creative. I had to make an L shaped 1/2 inch bracket that expanded into an 2 inch bracket that would fit the insulated part of the stud.

The bad thing is the template is in my head. I did not make a copy or take a pic before I put it in the car.

I did find a purchasable mounting plate on the web. It would need modified though.

If you could get a price for everyone to buy it from you, I might buy a set. So how much to install it? lol

So, just a thought but maybe a plug (similar to block heater plugs) would be ideal - wouldn't have to remove the service flap if covered in ice or snow. Not sure if a plug exists that would work with a battery charger but it would make a "plug and play" setup if one did.
