Coupe Rear Hatch Handle Option

I was at the dealer the other day and asked what the little black thing above the windshield on the Cabrio was.

"Why that's the Wind Deflector"

I aksed how is it held on?

"It's on with sticky tape"

Then I asked if their is any reson it couldn't be used as a handle on a coupe rear hatch and how much?

"No reason it wouldn't work and its about $16."

Sounds like a deal to me if your looking for a small somthing or other to help keep down the fingerprints when closing your hatch glass. And its available from your smart center.

Unfortunatly I will not be the test Monkey because my better 1/2 does not want a Handle.

As long as it doesn't interfere with the wiper, it should be OK.

Hmmm... and it's a part made by smart!

Although it'l be entertaining to hear a cabrio owner say that you're using a wind deflector as a window handle...

Ya can't. Cabrio's have different butts than Coupes. To open my back window, I have to lift on two corner latches and pull UP at the same time, no handle needed. Plus, it's made entirely of fabric, no place to stick the handle !!

Thanks for the suggestion. While picking up my new fender today, I looked closer at a Cab and I too can see no reason that it won't work. Dealer quoted my $12 for one, so I told him to go ahead and order it. I'll let you know how it works out.

Too soon to have an answer, huh? If only smart parts were 'overnight' like Chrysler parts are.

I do not have the part number, but I'm sure that I'll get it on my receipt. I'll make sure I have it before leaving when I get the part in.

Honestly, I'm surprised he hasn't called yet, but I ordered a trunk french fry the next day, so we may be waiting on that. I got my new fender in 5 days.
