They have obviously decided that they are less likely to be stolen as they used to be huge, they still are in Eastern Europe and Russia as their theft is quite common.

DRLs try this.

On

Have the car turned off and the key in hand.
Pull the left hand (light) stalk towards you and hold it there.
Push the LOCK button on the key remote.
The car will beep and the DRLs should be activated.

Off

Have the car turned off and the key in hand.
Pull the left hand (light) stalk towards you and hold it there.
Push the UNLOCK button on the key remote.
The car will beep and the DRLs should be deactivated.

What is the latest on FOG LIGHT activation?

My factory fog lights have been installed for three weeks now. I purchased them as accessories through my dealer's Parts Department. I had to install them myself after the dealership told me they could not install them because they wouldn't be able to activate the body electronics to make them functional. They still have not been activated.

I have read the posts on this subject. SMART USA is losing a lot of money in accessory sales by not providing their dealerships with a way of activating these lights. Come on guys, I want you to be profitable so that you will be around for a long time into the future. Your dealerships invested a lot of money in their franchise agreements. Don't you want their Parts and Service Departments to be profitable?

From the beginning smart was always about questioning "WHY" when someone said something couldn't be done. This spirit is, in part, why I bought my smart. But it appears you are becoming more interested in making and enforcing rules. WHY?

Please bring back that old spirit. Don't emulate MB. There is no star on your car. You are the star. You are smart!

I think your dealership tried to warn you: "I had to install them myself after the dealership told me they could not install them because they wouldn't be able to activate the body electronics to make them functional. They still have not been activated."

As far as I know thse lights cannot be activated by our smart centers; who knows, this may change if enough people demand it.
