Custom badging???

I'd love to remove or relocate the smart badge on the tail gate and replace it with a custom badge with the car's name in some sort of script... I still want it as raised plastic with the faux chrome and not a vinyl sticker or decal.

Is this even possible? And if so does anyone have an vendors they know of? I ran a couple of internet searches and nothing nice enough turned up... Help?

I have a genuine "Cayenne Turbo" badge that I would be glad to get rid of. Just pretend you steam washed your Porsche...

These kinds of things are posted on eBay constantly. In fact, there is a guy right now selling the 'smart' letters removed from his fortwo.

Beware of heat gun: too hot and the plastic panel melts!

You are right, JPaul. Let me amend that to powerful hair dryer.

Seriously. Use heat gun in moderation.

Thanks for the replies... let me clarify.. I wasn't looking for how to remove the smart lettering... I need to get a script of the car name created to put in it's spot and was wondering if anyone knew of a vendor that could create it? I'd like to get it as one piece instead of individual letters.

Wow, now I understand. I've never seen anything like that (being so custom, it would be very expensive to make the tooling for just one application).

On futher thought though, check with Sign Companies or Trophy / Award houses. They do small quantity items and may have the ability to make a one-off badge cheaper than a machine shop.

Just my further $.02,
Jim

www.billetandacrylic.com might be happy to machine a one-off aluminum badge just for you? It might be worth shooting him a PM.

What WilyB said is an option OR you could check with a sign shop that does "doming". They could use chrome vinyl domed and get that factory look I'm guessing you're looking for.
