I also have a DashDaq in my Smart and love it. The "Performance" area is VERY cool - christmas tree and all for running your own 0-60 and 1/4 mile times (assuming the OBDII output is correct!).
I have not gone for the GPS package yet as I did not think it has gone on sale yet. They said 11/4 but last time I checked nothing yet.
It was pricey, but I found one in original packaging on ebay a few months back for $495. Sorry cube, less than the eeePC (paid $500 for that). At least both are Linux based so fun to hack!
Love eeePC, got mine 4G off ebay for less then $300 shipped including 16G SDcard and XP Pro. Added touch screen and Bluetooth for another $70. OBDII to USB cable cost less then $100. One of the software I used in my other car is Centrafuse.

How have you set up the mileage tracking? I assume the engine displacement is 1 liter, but don't know what to put for the Volumetric Efficiency (or even if it is a percentage or a fraction). I just got mine today.

I used the default (was it 1?). I remember it being a fraction, not a percent. VE is bascially the fudge factor from the complication of converting from MAP to MAF (based on ideal gas laws) and all the other assumptions in the formulas. I think the idea is to compare calculated mpg with actual mpg and adjust VE to bring them into line. I have not done this yet as I am not really using the mileage tracking yet.

Yah, i calculated the theoretical VE as 83% using the performance numbers in the car manual. But so far I've tried .8 and 80 in the DashDAQ but no mileage yet. Also the reported MAP and Baro pressures are wierd-they are reporting about 50% of the value I'd expect: a Baro of 14.8 and MAP always a fraction of that. I know the actual Baro pressure was 30.12".

MAP is in psi, not inches. When you go to add a parameter to a gauge, it gives you the units.
Your messages got me thinking, so I set my VE to 0.75 and the mileage numbers look about right when cruising. But I wish there was a way to measure total fuel burned as this would allow us to fine tune the VE to reflect reality at the pump.
I still can't get Fuel Economy to show up on any of my gauges. My setup is shown below (sorry for the crappy iPhone pictures). I've tried selecting both of the Fuel Economy signals (vs Distance? vs Time? does that mean Miles per Gallon and Gallons per Hour?) but they only show zero. Calculated Mass Air Flow does show up with reasonable values (.3-4 across my currently breakin limited powerband).
(well, the image would be here but I got the dumb error:

I think I see the problem. Your middle image shows that you have nothing assigned for Mass Air Flow Signal. Tap that parameter, then scroll over to d-Economy Calculator and chose the Calculated Mass Air Flow. That should fix it.
