Which Dealers can Activate Fog Lights?

Which dealers (or shops) can activate the Fog Lights feature by applying the TAN code? If you put the effort in to install the physical fog lights hardware, you need to know who can activate them. You don't want to drive around with inoperable fog lights. If you have them, you want to use them. Most dealers say they can't or aren't interested in doing the activation. Help out by telling us where they can be activated. Thanks.

I have two Smart cars. Yesterday, I swapped factory fog lights from one Smart car to my Brabus. To my surprise, the Brabus had the wiring for the fog lights so it was a simple swap. However, they don't turn on.

I thought to myself that there must be a relay, fuse or some sort of switch or wiring mechanism to make them work. After reading this post it seems there is a computer activation that only dealers can do?

I'd drive down there but I'm in Connecticut.

Any tips on wiring?

Also, just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to install the original fog lights?

I was hoping to have them work with the Fog Light button that is next to the hazard light button.

in leu of getting the computer activated you could still use the fog light switch with some wiring modifications. You could purchase a small relay to handle the load. The fog light switch could be re-wired to turn on the relay which would then send power to the fog lights. This is essentially what the computer does internally. This is a lot of trouble so the first choice would be to try and get the computer programmed.

Agreed. So when the computer is programmed, will that activate the fog light button next to the hazard light button. I wanted to just swap that control unit of buttons between the Smarts or does this computer programming just work to turn on the fog lights on with the headlight switch?

I'll check with White Plains, NY, Hartford & Fairfield, CT dealers tomorrow to see if they will do such. I might be driving up to Mass.

Or is there a device I can use to activate it myself?
