Front Bumper Spare Tire Mount

Someone posted a while ago wanting to mount a spare tire on the front. Well, here's something for that which was just posted on ebay by smartepartsaz:

It seems like you could mount this on the rear bumper as well.

I just came from eBay browsing. I think the ad stated the mount was designed for the rear tow hole but could be used front or rear.

The bolt that holds it on the car does not look like it has the right threads.
Even if it was threaded properly, how do you keep it from backing out unintentionally?

Funny: many of us know Steven from smartieparts.com because he's somewhat active on this forum and now owns area451parts.com, one of the cruise control groups.

The people selling the tire thing here is smartEparts.com. The very cool name, it seems, was already spoken for.

how about a space saver spare instead?
it looks like the bolt is off center to the rim which would keep it from unscrewing by itself, pretty ingenious.

...if you were at the Dell's Rally and saw a white smart with a picnic table with an umbrella attached to the rear bumper you can say that the possibilities of something like the tire attachment is another way to customize your car....we talked about the possibilities of something like a Jeep rear mount, were the mount will be hinged and swing out of the way to allow the rear door to open fully..How about it Chris?

Like having to unlock, then open the top hatch, then open the tire and then open the tailgate (two hands to get both sides) would realy make sense.

As to the front bumber, Get a wheel cover for it and put some goofy picture on it

Well you got to give the guy some credit, he put SCOA on the top of his usefull links page http://www.smarteparts.com/Testimonials.html
