Hello - I would like to purchase good quality shades for my 4.2. Is anyone selling these items, perhaps at a kit price (to save a little $)? I know about SmartMadness, but after a couple of e-mail and 10 days I have not received a response to my inquiries. Anyone else want my business? Thanks. LDC

They are available from Amazon.

However you can purchase directly from ProTrim which is much cheaper. Had a very quick response from them when ordering.

You can also order directly from the manufacturer HeatShield but they don't have the side, rear or roof sunshades available from their online store.

Weird... every time I've emailed SmartMadness I've received a response in generally in a few hours or the next day. Good luck with your search.

Because it has a few distinct advantages, I've been using the California Pop Top developed especially for the smart on mine.

Car Covers, Car Sun Shades - California PopTop

-It is a one piece affair that covers all windows, so it is easy to put on. I can cover all windows in about 30 seconds (faster if I'm in a hurry).

-The material, Tyvex, has some wild properties: it keeps the car COOL, even in the bright sunlight. I have had people reluctantly place their hands directly on the cover on top of the car on wickedly hot days. Their reaction is always one of astonishment at how cool it feels.

-It keeps the heat out in the first place. Other shades attempt to reflect back out as much heat as physics will allow. (Ever notice how hot the shades are when you gather them back up?)

-Easy to stow in the tailgate cargo compartment.

-It keeps the exterior a bit cleaner.

We are so impressed with them that we are working with John Allen to develop some big ones for our helicopters.

Just an FYI... We match any legitimate price on ANY of the products that we sell. If you compare their pricing it is within a dollar or two to ours. Protrim deals with an entire line of cars, while we deal only with the Smart. Due to this our cost from the manufacturer is a bit higher. We also keep the items in stock and ship out within 24 hours, most others drop ship from the manufacturer and have no inventory.

If you look at purchasing directly from Heatshield you will see they sell the front screen for $35, while we sell it for $25. These items have a very, very small margin. We stock and offer these items to our customers almost as a courtesy. By the time we ship them in, get the box, package them we have a buck or two left.

When a customer orders several of the Heatshields from us we discount the shipping. All anyone needs to do is drop us an email. Our site calculates shipping automatically. There are cases where we can put several items in one box and in that case we can save some folks a bit of money on shipping.
