Getting heated seats wet?

Ok, maybe I'm worrying for nothing, but here's the deal. My hubby wants to take the smart to the beach, swimming (us swimming, not the car! ). I'm worried about it because it has the heated seats, and what if we end up getting them wet from our wet bathing suits and towels?

Is it really nothing to worry about, or is there a real danger of getting shocked or shorting it out? Help, my Google-fu is weak today...

I though the base of the heated seat was leather. If so your fine, just sit on your towel and they won't be SOAKED.

Otherwise sit on a plastic bag if your worried, but you'll be fine.

No, my seats are cloth. Sorry, I should have put that in the original post. Heated cloth seats...

Ah, well if you dry off at the beach, and SIT on your towel, you'll still be fine. I mean the seat will be just damp after one gets back up. No need to worry. If they become completely soaked from like a rain event...well then I'd think twice about engaging the heated seats.

Just don't get in soaking wet. Allow yourself some time to dry.
Have you considered taking a change of clothes?

We live less than a 5 minute drive from the place where we swim, so a change of clothes would be pointlessly time-consuming. But yes, we will make sure to dry off well and sit on our towels and the seats should only get damp at the most...

Thanks, all!!

The water will do more damage to the cloth and foam then to the heated pad... it is sealed , and low voltage (12~14.7VDC) ...no short circuit problem...no damage to the heater pad. and no potential shock hazard...

BUT still ...I recommend keeping the seat dry with a thick towel or some cover...... and if the Beach is on a ocean..... you really do not want to set up the inner seat metal structure and electrical wiring with salt water caused corrosion...
