have you heard of Global brand window tint

I'm wanting to get my side windows & back window tinted. I have never had this done, so bear with me... I have found out that the Maryland state allowable amount is 35% and called a tinting/ wheels place near my home who tells me he uses "Global" brand tinting. Any idea if this is a quality brand to use? He told me that he warranties the labor for 1 year and the tinting has a lifetime warranty. He has such a SMALL, out of the way shop that I'm kinda concerned as to whether he'll even be in business in a year! I'm mostly concerned about the QUALITY since I remember the tint full of bubbles my friends put on their cars back in the 80's. He said he would charge me $70 which I don't think is bad. Any opinions?

good price. I've been quoted between $130-150 w/lifetime warranty. No idea on the brand or quality though.

For comparison - just had mine done at a local shop that's been around for a long time. Didn't do any real comparison shopping so probably paid more than I should have ($232) but just wanted it done and think the product they use has a good track history and here in sunny Arizona I wanted something that would work as well as possible.

Manufacturer is FormulaOne and I got the Pinnacle series which is the best they make

Experience matters. I got a pro shop to do my tint and two weeks afterwards it's clear as glass, no bubbles just darker. A friend used the same guy and his is still perfect after 5 years. I can't speak to the Global brand but mine's Llumar Platinum Plus, and looks wicked.

Llumar has always had a great reputation and is a popular brand. Had my Prius done 2 years ago (11 windows, top of windshield, and installation of a clear bumper protector film) for $165. But, realize that prices will vary by region on anything. I can imagine, for example, that the same job in Southern FL would be much more.

There are basically three kinds of window tint film.

Dyed - fades soonest

Metallic pigment - lasts longer, fades to reflective, can interfere with GPS/Sat radio

Ceramic - longest life, most expensive

Had the cabrio done for $100 in Delaware at Forumula 1 Tinting and Graphics, who have done two now:

1) Window Tinting

1) Window Tinting

You can tint the front windows beyond the standard legal limit if you have a medical waiver (opthamological, dermatological, etc.).

I'm looking at doing something similar and am actually close by to you - are you by any chance attending the meet this weekend?

Doesn't matter what the place looks like. Where my prius was done, the place was in a part of town I would not frequent after dark and was run down. But the owner is friendly and knowledgable and they did a great job. Ask for references and pics.
