How do I remove my e-brake? [Euro 451]

Hi all,

I have sourced a Brabus handbrake, but cannot get the standard one off!

It looks exactly like this: FQ101 : Smart Car Modifications Except, mine doesn't have the removable plastic lug.

Anyone any ideas??

Thanks.

I just removed mine couple of days ago.
Plug is there, it is just flushed and really hard to see or feel with your fingers.
Get a flash light and raise e-brake as high as you can. I used small micro screwdriver and removed plug without any problem. It took me 20 seconds and id id not damage the plug.

Not trying to brag.... but these are just as nice for only 40.00 shipped. Why anyone woul pay the Brabus prices is beyond me.

I can assure you it isn't there, I was the one that discovered it was different.

Erm... wrong, the 450 and 451 (2007 and 2008) handbrake are exactly the same.

Shipping to USA, not UK and besides, I think James managed to get the Brabus one second hand for 30.00

------------------------------------

I suspect the 451 was using up the old 450 handbrakes, now they have run out they are using a new design. It is a single piece unlike the split shaft of the 450.

OK, just been out hardwiring an extra 12v socket for my satnav. Very stealthy now, but that's not why I'm posting. While I was messing about, I took some pics.

For all the doubting mustapha's...

Looks fairly boggo, right?

Wrong. :?

This is underneath.

No screw.

Any ideas?

Show it no mercy and wrench it off.

evilution do you wrench it off like a nut... like does it twist off like a bolt or does it just slide right off the handle?

Try warming it with a hair dryer first.

Now I understand what jetful was talking about, a few simple taps and it slid right off, no cutting no damage. First you thread out the button with your fingers, then wrap a crecent wrench with some tape to keep it from scratching anything, then a few taps toward the front of the car and it slid right off. BTW my car was one of the later models that does not have the plastic set pin.
