Leather Armrest

Here's the armrest I got from Berlin-Tuning.com, very nice fit & finish, adds the needed comfort I was looking for. I paid $158 Euros (shows more on their website but that's before VAT is removed). They take Paypal if that helps but it's really hard to navigate their site as it's in German, just takes a little effort with google transalation. You can call them, they speak english.

This is the height adjuster mechanism so you can adjust the height/angle.

This is how it attaches to the seat hardware, uses existing holes.

Looks like it matches the smart leather very well; DOES IT?

I think that's the same one SmartMadness has here - Armrest for the Smart Car - for $289 (I'm assuming plus shipping). So did you get them for about $225 delivered? TIA - sheureka

Do either of these websites have the armrest is different colors? I'm getting the red interior and would want it to match.

Does it interfere with the e-brake or the shifter?

It matches the leather really well and designed for people with the leather interior so if you have the red cloth it's not a match by any means but still looks good in charcoal leather. You can always call them and ask for a custom armrest, may take longer but it will be worth it if you want red. Also, if you can get the fabric, you can get the armrest and have an auto upholsterer recover it pretty easily.

It doesn't interere at all with the e-brake at all. It makes it more of a reach to shift using the floor shifter as any armrest would be at a comfortable height but the shifter knob is lower. You can adjust the angle to be lower when you are in the mood to shift a lot using the floor shifter and of course you can use the paddle shifters in the steering wheel. If you run in automatic mode, you won't notice it much just putting it in drive and park.

I initiated SmartMadness to get them and they said they would arrive in a few weeks and that was a while ago so yes, check with them. I went with Berlin-Tuning because they had them to ship but it took a week to get the amount sorted out with them with vat and export duties and shipping but I finally paid 158 Euros and 27 Euros for DHL express deliver (took 3 days) but if you are a very patient person, Deutsche Post would have been 17 Euros but be prepared to wait 2-4 weeks, Germany has the worst postal system I've ever experienced. In contrast, their neighbors to the north, the Netherlands is so much faster and better and I've bought stuff for my MB from there without the delays and most Dutch speak fluent english. I totally would have gotten them from SmartMadness if they had them, no doubt about that.

You are correct and thank you! :-)

We had several customers ask about it and after the requests we went on a bit of a hunt. We seen a couple of other ones, but they looked and felt like (well, let's just say...not so good).

We also contacted Berlin tunning. They promised and promised, but took forever to respond back and after numerous promises to get us the info we need and not returning email requests we had second thoughts about sending them money and then hope they actually send something back. They might be great, but we completely gave up on them due to their business practices.

We finally found a legitimate source for the same armrests and made arrangements to import them here. Now we have them in stock, are happy with the quality and have no issues with the supplier. Those that are interested can certainly place the order with an oversees supplier and wait or simply click on our site, order and we will ship out within 24-48 hours.

If anyone is interested here is the link to the product:

Armrest for the Smart Car

Thanks!

PS. You are 100% correct about the German Post. They have lost two of our shipments in the last 3 months.

What is the Euro conversion, What was your final U.S. Dollars spent for your armrest? I can see going that route if you saved $60.00.

Don't go by my conversion rate as the dollar is gaining strength against most currencies so you'll likely pay less than me if you buy directly from Germany. It was $1.58 per Euro 2 months ago and it's gone down to $1.40, wait a month or two and it may hit $1.25. On the otherhand, you have a sure deal with a U.S. supplier if they have them in stock and to me, having in stock outweighed an price advantage one vendor had over another.
