LED Fog light installation succeed, NO DEALER NEEDED!!

Hi this is Tyrant from Taiwan. I finished my fog light installation today NO DEALER NEEDED!! I can control the fog light on and off by switching on/off the side light, so no extra switch installed. There are 2 stages or more if you want, 1st stage side light on and fog light off, 2nd stage side light on and fog light on. You can also add the 3rd stage: side light off and fog light on. Here is the procedure.

Note: I use the "LED" light, so the power comsumption is low.
If you want to use the REAL fog light(55W), you have to add a relay series to the output of the control box. use the control box to control the relay and power the relay by battery.
Note: The "control box" was modified from the 3 or 4 stages IC switch used for house light switching. I have procedure to modify it, see below.

It uses 4013 chip to do the controlling

1.Unplug the fuse number 6 and 7 or disconnect the battery.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
The fuse unit is under the dashboard of driver side, you have to get down to see it. The fuse number is on it!! (Red 7.5A)

2.Turn the wheel to the extreme right/left

3.Reach your hand inside the hole and find the clip of the grilles, you may
lay on the ground and try which hand is easier to reach in. See my blog

The back side of the grilles see pic below

4.Push out the clip of the grilles, you may push out 3 or 4 clips of them,
and pull the whole grilles out. Then you will see like the pic below.

5.Wiring, I paralleled the right and left side light and connect the power to
the input of the control box I made. Please NOTE: PURE BROWN is the
ground and multi-color is the Positive wire.

6.Put the wire for fog light from top and pull it out from bottom. Please
make sure you leave enough length for wire the fog light connectors.

7.Connect the fog light connector and wire the other head to the output of
the control box.

8.Install the LED fog light bulb and CHECK AGAIN make sure positive
connect positive and ground connect ground

9.AFTER making sure of the connection, plug the fuse 6 and 7 and then
turn on the side light power to check. First stage: only side light on, 2nd
stage: side light and fog light on.

10.AFTER check the lights function, install the LED light on the fog light
pedestal and then install the fog light pedestal from the opening. It will
be a little bit tight, you have to squeeze the padestal in.

11.Make sure the pedestal are fixed OK and then install the grilles with for fog light.

Yes, I have thought about it. So I use both side light and fog lght LED version. The power comsumption is almost as much as original T10 bulb. The LED side light is 1.5W each, and the power comsumption of LED fog light maye be less than 5W each. I estimated the extra power is less than 5W total. I think there is no problem with that. But I will keep monitoring the car. See if there were any problem comes out. Thanks. P=IV The extra power comsumption is 5W, so the P=5 and the V=12. The extra I (current) is 5/12 = 0.4167A The fuse is 7.5A. I think there is margin of that

Haha, you are wellcome. But I cannot find the similar product on ebay US and UK. I original plan to find the product for the friends in US or UK but in vain. I majored in ME not EE, so I can only draw the simple AC to DC circuit diagram, as for the control circuit diagram... out of my ability. Actually, I really want to draw the whole circuit diagram to share, but that is too hard for me. Hope you guys can find the product. I think that is a really good device to control the fog light and maintain the integrality as well. Save a lot of money too.

What doesn't appear to be communicated so far: what LED fogs did you use? A manufacturer and part would be great to know.

I bought the LED fog light in the car store in Taiwan, I didnt know the manufacturer but you can type LED H11 1W on ebay. You will find the LED with low power consumption. What else did I miss to say.. I think... I bought the grilles and the fog light pedestal from smart parts direct. AND please check the hole (see picture of procedure 3) see if there is wire popping out after finishing installation. You have to make sure the wire stay inside the hole otherwise your wheel may rub the wire.
