I'm using 8, 10mm 28000 mcd LEDs on my install though. I didn't like the pre packaged light pucks I've seen available.

~Puddle Lights~
OK, I got my Puddle Lights installed... I took the Skirts off, and drilled hole the size of the lights, thus keeping the wires inside the Skirt Box, and wiring to my Dome light... They go on with door open ~ Key Fob ~ Dome switch: auto~off~On... Thats Cool...<:-)) Details are available...
Note: They say water proof~I found I needed to really seal (glue) the wires entering & exiting the Lights~just do it, ok...

very cool. Can the "spot magnifying lens" be removed to make more of a flood pattern?

The Spot is most likely from the LED's not the lense.

You can frost the lens with some frosted glass spray
