I have a great idea. There is a nice button on the key that turns on the interior light. That way you can see what's happening, and then notice that the car has been unlocked and you don't even need to insert the key!

Anyone could do that; this thread is all about the exploration of new and better ways to accomplish the obvious.

Please put me down for ordering one of these. Sounds like a great idea.

Yes of course it is. Same method, open it up and remove the plastic pin, slide the key blade out.

Dan 500, I can make racing stripes, cost would depend on the layout and colors, let me know what you have in mind.

An alternative to the whole key thing

I was looking at smartsrus and I found something better than a lighted key ring. On the 450 there was a lighted push button starter!!! Can you imagine a lighted push button starter for the Smartcar???

I want this!!!

Start Button for smart 451

Wow!
I really want a Start Button to replace the ignition barrel on my 451.
I have a start button on my Lexus and I am in the habit of putting the key in my pocket after I unlock the door.

Evilution: Here is another project for you if you would be so kind. Thanks.

P.S. This is such a good idea that I am going to borrow it and star a new thread.

There are already 2 threads on a push button starter.
