What difference does it make that it is for sale?

What difference does it make that he is selling it. Things change. The information that "brian r" provided remains. Thanks again

Great job on the car. I liked what the V-Max product from Cascade Audio Engineering for my cabrio. I've been driving with the dampening from day 1 thanks to my Smart Tech.

Do the doors seem like much better "acoustical chambers" now for the speakers in your opinion?

Thanks for all of the compliments, everyone! It was a lot of work but I was really into it and thought it was time well spent as I thought I'd be enjoying the car for a long time.

I added the speakers after the damping material was added so i can't say "in this instance", but from other cars and having a lot of home stereo experience I think that any speakers can benefit from making their mounting point and "cabinet" as resonance-free as possible.

About 20-22 pounds. They say a 50 sq. ft roll is 15 pounds (the shipping weight was 15 lb.). I used about a roll and-a-half. Then subtract the weight of the thick backing paper (say 75 sq. ft). The speakers, grilles, amp, and wire added another 10-12 pounds. It doesn't seem to have an effect. I only weigh 160 lb..

Bump - this one is too good of a post for newbies to miss and also for the oldbies who missed it originally - I'm reviving it.

Excellent work.

Another source of noise is the tires. I put closed cell foam over my wheel wells. It made a big difference at lower speeds. But as in your test, it was the wind noise that got you at higher speeds. The closed cell foam weighs less and does not absorb water.

You can see the complete transformation here..

You have inspired me. I'm taking my interior out this weekend.

Oh, How sad you have to sell. The more work one has invested, the more attached most of us get. I am sorry you have to part with the quiet little machine. Thanks for taking the time to show and tell. I would like to line the door panels on my Cabrio as a minimum.
