Open your (coupe) tailgate with one hand!

For coupes only! I just added two 2" x 3/8" compression springs (one for each side) to my tailgate to allow me to open it with one hand. Works great! I used the bottom screw for the tail light assembly to add the spring which I painted black. Took all of 1 minute each.

Huh, is the 08 different than the 09 model? My smart center showed me how to open my stock 09 with one hand, open the glass, pull the right tab, pull the left tab, and then pull the right tab again, and down she comes.

Open with one hand isn't probably the right title. I meant you can open it without going back and forth which I find annoying.

ah, gotcha. Yeah, a little annoying, but I don't do it enough to hate it, yet. Thanks for the clarification, looks like a cool mod.

At $1.78 per spring, one of the cheapest mods I've done!

The soft top dor comes down easy with one hand. I just need to keep my key in the other hand, Got a dent ( scratch) in the back from the key when the door came down on it.

I don't get it either. My cabrio tailgate opens with one hand; just don't let go when you open the latch with one hand, and you can let it down gently with the same hand. Why would I need a helper spring when gravity works just fine?
