If you're using a paint that isn't specifically for plastics, you need to prep the plastic with something like Bulldog Adhesion Promoter.
Ok, where do I get that? I might return this paint and go to Sears to see if they have anything. Krylon says they carry Krylon paint, and I found a couple ones that would work.
You can find it at a local automotive paint store....even in spray can form. It's not cheap, but a can will more than cover what you need to do. Since those parts don't flex enough to even worry about, you shouldn't need to worry about having a plastic paint. BEWARE!! The chrome paint is funny stuff - I'm sure you've played with it enough now to notice that without a clearcoat of some kind it sort of wipes off on your finger if it is touched a lot. I'm no expert on the stuff even though I have a few high dollar premium cans of the stuff laying around the garage that I've painted lug bolts with (VW's, Mercedes). (not Wal-Mart grade, way better than Krylon)

Well, Im going to return the Lowes stuff and go by sears to see if they have any. Im actually torn because I think both metalic blue, and the chrom would look good in the interior. I bought some metalic auto interior paint from autozone, and some adheasion stuff too, for plastic auto parts. So I should get some clear coat too? Man, w/o a garage, Im not sure WHERE to put all this paint!
Ok, so lightly sand, adhesion spray, spray color in coats until solid, then clear coat?

Yes - and make sure there is no left over Armor-All on it too! Prep solvent it. Hide all the cans you use from your wife before she does the math and sees how much $$$ you spent on this venture.
If anything, pull off one piece first - whatever you feel is most inconspicuous and try that first before you do the whole interior at once and then discover you actually suck at painting and shouldn't of tried it in the first place. Perhaps the console piece?
Well, I went for it tonight. I think I messed up though. I started with a sand on both pod trim pieces. I sanded with a light grain, just so it wasnt shiny anymore. I then used dawn and then alcohol to clean them, being careful not to touch the parts where I wanted paint. Then I used the adhesion promoter. The directions said 2-3 coats, 1-3 min apart. Let dry for 10. I did so, then did two coats of the rustolium auto interior metalic silver paint every 10 min for three coats, like the instructions said. The, like advised, I did a clear coat. I waited 10 min on the high gloss to dry and I ended up with the same damn color I had started with: the one that is OEM! The clear coat dulled the finish! My wife sugested that I go ahead and apply the metalic blue I bought for the calipers to it, since it said it would work for any shiny metalic looking surface. I did that, like the instructions said, but it turned into a blotchy blue and metalic blue mess.
I then stripped what I could, and sanded what I could back down to what looks like the original material. I cleaned and dried it, used adhesion promoter, let it dry. Then did two light coats of the interior silver, like the cans said. I let them dry each time. Then I tried the blue again, but it didnt look right so I let it dry and coat it three more times with the silver.
I am about at my whits end, and this project is just now at a good stopping point. Serves me right for getting too excited about making my car look good....
