The body shops around here must not be familiar with the stuff because I see lots of peeling panels on "pimped" cars. Yeech.

I went another route. I wanted the color on the bottom panels, but didn't want to paint. If I change panels later, this will be easier for me. I run a sign & graphics co. so I thought vinyl would be the way to go. I did my wife's white cabrio and my red passion last week. This used about $3 of white vinyl and I even found a shade of red that matched pretty good. I applied the vinyl with the panels on the car. Took about 30 min. I am testing the sides before I do the front and back to see how it holds up under daily use. I will put a picture in my gallery later.

i became my parts today from the painting...
- three "towing-caps"
- front- rear- sideskirts
- headlight-lips

i spayed the three ugly screws on the back by myself - but the pro-paintjob on the other parts cost me 500 euro...
300 dollar? dreamprice!!!

well - here my pictures so far - front and side are going to be installed tomorrow, when i cleaned up the little one a bit. ;)

Why paint? Right now they're maintenance-free... never chip, never peel... and the black standard color helps to soften the car's proportions.

Matter of taste I suppose. IMO I feel it "finishes" the car and looks a bit more classy. Look at some of the old early 90's econoboxes (Corrolas, Geos etc). The lower level cars had the black or grey plastic bumpers while the more deluxe versions looked finished with their painted bumpers and trim.

i think, a smart with painted lower parts looks wide, fat, more "stable" and a littlebit closer to the ground.
