...and here's another page from the smarts-r-us web-site:
http://www.smartsrus.com/srus/154_ComfortForTwo.html

Pricier than the Canadian-sourced unit and without any storage, but it does move with the seat. I installed the other version discussed here and even with the seat moved forward one can still rest an arm there - plus it give a left-side armrest to the passenger too.

Armrest

That is exactly what I saw...@ 120 BP is about $240 + freight. Ouch!

Looks like awesome quality tho.

Anyone has already ordered one of these? They show a RED and an ORANGE color. My red interior looks sort of Redish Orange...what do I order? Some of these colors are not even offered interior colors for US cars.

Armrest From Smarts-R-Us

WARNING: I'd suggest you avoid Smarts-R-Us when ordering parts! Their business operations and practices are currently reflecting very poorly on them. I will not use them again.

I did order the black leather seat-mounted armrest from Smarts-R-Us. They sent me a fabric covered one erroneously, though I now believe that the error was deliberate. The shipment of the wrong armrest allowed them to bill my VISA card.

The armrest that I did receive was of very high quality and construction so I decided that is was indeed the one that I wanted. It was built very solidly, but I could not determine who was the actual manufacturer. This same armrest is currently shown on the Smartie-Parts site, although none are in stock, and an email to the owner of the site says that no one has ordered any yet, hence the zero stock They are indeed expensive at close to $300 US including S&H.

I returnded the armrest to Smarts-R-Us for replacement. Return shipment to them was $27 US, supposedly to be refunded to me, but this never happened. They acknowledged receipt of the return and said they had shipped me the correct item, though it never arrived. Numerous emails to them over the course of 3 weeks went unanswered, this resulting in the necessity for a phone call. Was told they would look into the problem and would "get back to me". Never heard from them though I again emailed them several times. Canceled the order after never hearing from them or receiving the correct armrest and got VISA to dispute the payment and credit my account. They have not even the courtesy to acknowledge the cancellation! Still out the $27 for return shipment of the wrong armrest.

Got more information regarding this same non-shipment/no-response behaviour from another poster on different forum. Also found that a poster on this forum had issued a warning about Smarts-R-Us in January, indicating that Smarts-R-Us "was in a money hole". I had previously posted all of this info to this forum, but is was lost recently when the site went down.

Again, be warned about doing business with Smarts-R-Us. Should you choose to do so, use a payment system that offers you some form of protection. YMMV.

Armrest Arrived!

Armrest From Smarts-R-Us

Wouldn't you know it...About an hour after posting the previous warning about Smarts-R-Us and my experience with trying to get the seat-mounted leather-covered armrest from them, the armrest arrived via Royal Mail/US Postal Service. Keep in mind that Smarts-R-Us has still never corresponded with me regarding shipment problems nor my notice of the order cancellation. Nothing...nada! Not my idea of the way to treat customers.

In any case, this is the same well made armrest, minimal plastic, finally in a black leather covering which matches the original Smart leather to a tee. Now, if I could just get Smart to deliver my car, sigh.. Have been buying my accessories in anticipation of the guesstimated 3rd quarter delivery.

I picked up mine via eBay. Here's an auction link - although right now they're out of stock on the US-model "new 451" style...but I'm sure they will have more soon:

armrest

I bought one from armrest king-but it sure didn't drop right in. None of the holes worked and I had to cut a half-inch off the back so that the seat would slide all the way back. I like having an armrest but that is one chintzy $90 piece. The prices for after market stuff is outrageous.

Note that the cited Canadia supplier of the armrests is temporarily out of stock. I have emailed requesting when anticipated and if he is taking wait list.

I've had no luck with smarts R us. "Ordered" a double din surround and the armrest back in early March from them when I received the call from smart center that my pure was in and would be ready for delivery within the week. Have attempted emailing them with no responses. Still no charge from them on the card and no armrest or surround or response. Since every place seemed to be out of stock of the double din fascia, I ended up getting it from Italy, but without the cage- really want the armrest now! If nothing else to keep me from elbowing the passenger. I wonder if one from a mini van could be modded to work? Very disappointed in smarts R Us.
