Poor mans alarm system?

I have a US 451 cabrio, which I inherited the options when I bought an orphan. No factory alarm is installed.

Anyone know what two wires from the pin connector (behind the switch bar which operates the door lock button) operate that flashing LED?

There is an LED light in the lock button that flashes when in the locked position, and I want to connect a more visible LED light extension near the dash/windshield area to give the look of an alarm installed.

The problem is you can't identify what wires go where due to the switch bar is a circuit board (pretty sophisticated for a $16K car).

Any electrical gurus that can assist?

Gordon, Atlanta

Might be easier to install an aftermarket alarm system.

Looks like it won't work afterall...

Spoke to a buddy who is an electrical engineer who took a look at the circuit board. He thinks the blinking light is a function of the circuit board. Therefore tapping into the wires won't do anything...bummer.

Found an inexpensive alarm solution: $10, and it took 15 mins to install. When you turn off the key, it blinks. When you turn on the key, it stops. I mounted the LED light in the middle of my dash center console, and it is very visible:

Kinda cool to end your own thread with an answer...

I install a alarm system on my smart car, it's was only three wires took a half hour to install. It is a Thief-track Gps unit, $250.00. I purchase the unit at GPS-onSale, you can get a demo at........

I took advantage of the spares in the fuse box. One for "switch drawn power" another for "continuous power" and the ground.
