Rear glass to hot to touch

Well summer is here, in Phoenix, and the glass in the back is really hot. Burns my hand when I try to close the hatch. Anyone got a creative idea on putting something on there to make it less painful? Maybe a piece of rubber that is glued on. Otherwise I am going to have to attach a hook outside that holds an oven mit.

I might just try to put a sticker there. Not sure if that would make a big enough difference.

Try a car cover. Might be a little sweaty by the time you have it off, but the window should be cooler. :-)

There is no shade in Arizona.

Seriously, some sort of shade or cover over the rear window would help keep the glass cooler; even draping a towel over it should help.

Quick and dirty solution might be to use some strong two sided tape to adhere a little piece of silicon to the glass - it works for cooking and as trivets I figure it would stay cool to the touch on your car too

Just keep a washcloth handy to close your hatch. I don't touch my glass, but not for heat reasons... I just don't want fingerprints on the glass.

It's not even that hot in PHX yet... just wait!

When I lived there (IF you can call that living), I had VWs with no A/C and black 'leatherette' upholstery. Just try sitting on black vinyl in your summer shorts or grabbing the black plastic steering wheel after it's been in your locked-up car in 115-degree weather for a couple of hours. It's easy to get the interior up to 200 degrees.

My advice is always the same: Get out of that place!
