Removing smart emblems

Does anyone know if you can remove the smart emblems from the hood panel? I want to paint mine but am scared to try and pole them.

Word to the wise... the rear emblem letters are easy to remove but the front is difficult and should be removed only when the adhesive is very warm. I had difficult with the front and did a bit of scratching on the paint as a result.

It's easier to wash.
It's easier to wax.
It's a "cleaner" look.
More people will be asking, "What is that??"
It's "customized".
More aerodynamic. (yeah, right...)

Why? it's not a merc, smart isn't owned by merc, it doesn't have a merc engine.
