More Surgery Today...

As if the past couple of days weren't enough, today was speaker-transplant day, and rummaging around in the header, running the RJ11 power cable for my V1 "bird dog."

The new Polk db675s (Thanks, Brian R! These things *rock!*)

...And the radar unit in its new home:

...Coupled to its remote display unit, down in the left cubbyhold where only I can see it go off through the steering wheel - the RDU blanks out the main V1 display, so no other car can see an alert:

If anyone has an extra set of those Polk db675 grilles they'd like to sell, let me know. I wouldn't mind having Babybenz give 'em the carbon-fiber treatment to match the rest of the interior trim.

Huge change from photo #1 - how did you make that other car disappear?

How are these working out? They look sweet! I'm in the process of upgrading my door noise makers and also adding rear crunchers behind the headrests. Know of any nice mounts for that area?

Very, very sweet. First thing I did was the Brabus/carbon fiber rings for the instrument pods. You have sure raised the bar on mods. I will aspire to do mine as nice as yours.
Great photos, was really well done.
I bet it even goes faster, flows thru the wind...

The 675s? I'm very happy with them, paired with my AVH-P4100DVD head unit, and coupled with the OEM under-seat sub and in-dash tweeters. There's all sorts of sound in the car, and the P4100's built-in parametric EQ made it easy-peasy to tweak the system 'til it roars. I do wish I could add rear speakers, but with a cabriolet, it's kind of challenging. If you're in a coupe, you have room in the upper sides to add something like these 675s, if you use 1" mounting rings.

Now some dynamat...it'll make those sweet speakers sound even sweeter if the background noise is at minimum

For those with a smaller Visa than others, there is an alternative to Dynamat. I picked up RoadBlockR - does the same thing, but MUCH cheaper! It is available at Soundproofing Materials and Soundproof Foam from SoundproofCow.com
