smart fortwo steering wheel replacement

Does anyone have any knowledge of how the smart fortwo steering wheel is attached?

I would assume there is an airbag but is it hard to disconnect and remove the wheel?

After seeing this Brabus wheel, I really want an aftermarket steering wheel in my car.

Yep,after waiting over a year for a 12,000 dollar car,the first thing I'm going to do is fool around with the steering wheel.Good luck.

it would be nice if the bottom of the wheel was flat, give me a little more leg room while getting in and out of the car

The steering wheel comes off in one unit with the air bag and all. you can easily switch from two spoke to three spoke with paddle shifters. The shifters do require programing with the start system. As for after market.. it look like any old steering shaft that you could put a wheel. However you lose your air bag and safety features (i work at a dealer i have to say that)

nice....

why is it almost every time a comment is made about modifying the car, someone has to throw in some lame remark..? Let people have fun changing out what they want to. I for one changed the steering wheel from leather to alcantra and I loved it in the Mercedes AMG I had last year...

I'm new here BUT I have to agree, steering wheel needs to be more racy...

i'll trown on mine a very tacky furry wheel cover - you know - to just look cool ;)

I can live with the wheel - but would have been nice to have an adjustable steering wheel - since on most car it is standard option. Even my crappy Aveo had that.

I'm about to buy the cabriolet with the three-spoke wheel, so I guess it'd be the same if I wanted to switch to the two-spoke? I imagine I'll still have the option of manu-shifting with the main shifter, which I prefer anyway, since I'll lose the paddle-shifters? I've never found three-spoke wheels particularly comfortable and enjoy resting my hand on an open lower half of the wheel.
