The problem with that design (which is almost exactly the same as something I did 4 years ago) is that because of the movement of the handbrake lever in comparison to the carpet, the gaiter will look strange in 1 position depending on the cut of the fake leather.
If you have a standard leather gaiter, you can tuck it into that hole which will stop the "hot" air from the engine entering the cabin

, then finish it off with a decorative surround that is held in place with velcro.
I'm sure there is someone on here that could make something like this out of Billet (or acrylic)
