on a related note, the new Dodge Challenger has a 'push button' start where no key is needed. they use a "Fobik" Key and MUST BE IN THE CAR for it to start. so you can leave it in your pocket and still start the car OR have the 'button' removed and just use the key normally. doesn't look like a normal key however. all electronic. if you chose to use it, just insert the "Fobik" into the ignition slot and turn like you would a regular key.

maybe smart should come up with something like this, ya think? THAT would be SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This would work in a 451 IF you had the key in the ignition.

The 451 has a more normal immobiliser. The ignition surround has a small aerial underneath it that reads the info off the key and turns off the immobiliser.
Not sure on the sensor distance but it's not usually much.
