Argh...sorry all, I didn't receive any email notifications!!

That is in fact a BMW part. Even more interestingly enough, it's a standard issue on BMWs in Europe not in the US. As you can see it's a first aid kit box. But the kit is not available in the US. The empty box is.

Part number is 52.10.7.044.958. Should be about $16~$20 ish depending on the dealer you call.

I spent a good hour trying to find good mounting pts. Even fabricated a couple of brackets. In the end, the best solution is to drill two holes on the top of the box and fasten with two tapping screws into two existing holes under the seat. Steady as a rock. The box moves with the seat so it's always within reach. And it doesn't hinder operating the slider lever either.

The box can hold multiple CDs, a small first aid kit, flash light, etc.

I will post more pictures in the evening.

very cool! how much of a problem did you have moving the under-seat wires out of the way?

EDIT: After some research, it doesn't look like it's going to go back far enough to be in the way of the wires. Also, it doesn't have a drawer, the front just pops down.

Is it big enough to keep the owner's manual in?

Here are a couple pics I found from a BMW board:

I called two dealers and got quotes of $27.10 and $32.48.

Vince,

Here is the link to the one of the BMW forums

FYI: First Aid Kit - bimmerfest - BMW Forums

It is looks like that you will need separate holder to attach drawer to the seat.

Did you use a holder ( BMW part# 52.10.7.045.018 ) or just attached box directly to the seat?

I called my local dealer and they want $27 for the drawer and $18 for the holder.

Thank you.

I called a BMW dealer here in NEO and got a quote of $15.00 so I ordered 2. The dimensions are10' wide,3.5' high,4.5' deep. The part number given above is correct.

what dealer quoted you $15? i'd rather order it from them and pay shipping than pay 2x that much for one at my local dealer! thanks
