So the first goodies for the Cabrio (who *still* hasn't told me what its name is!) arrived yesterday - Actually the day before, but I wasn't home to sign for the box... The not-Genius armrest, which looks absolutely fabulous, and a 4-pc set of carbon fiber finish trim for the cabriolet roll bar. Everything was very well packed; the individual trim bits in bubble-wrap for protection and the armrest in its own box full of protective foam cheetos...
I have to say from order date to delivery date was *much* faster than expected, given the very reasonable shipping costs. I'm quite happy to support people who serve the community like this, and will continue to patronize SmartMadness in the future. There'll be a lot more CF-finish interior bits to go into the Cabrio, eventually...
One note, though: Granted it's not exactly "rocket surgery" to install some of the goodies we're all slurping up for our cars, but it did strike me as a bit curious that nothing I bought for the Cabrio came with any installation instructions. Now, I know there are many resources on the web (and in this forum) for learning how to do various trim installations, but this is the first time I've *ever* bought any sort of aftermarket doodad for an automobile or motorcycle - and I've bought a metric butt-load of kludge for my vehicles over the past three decades - that came without at least some sort of installation notes. I'm not meaning this as a criticism of SmartMadness or their suppliers; far from it. It just struck me as somewhat odd. I'm sure I won't have too much trouble figuring out how the OEM trim comes off my roll bar or how the new CF covers go on, but it may not be as intuitive (for lack of a better word) for another driver as it may or may not be for me. Just food for thought.
(And FWIW, I've not seen anyone document how to re-trim the cabriolet roll bar anywhere yet. No matter; I probably won't get around to doing it 'til I get home again in April...)
