i got my smart car and the sun shade would stick as i was trying to move it. it kept sticking till one day i put a little elbow grease to it. there came the string on the passenger side down, down it went. took all eight bolt out took the whole mess out very carefully and had no problem figuring out how it went back together, had the front screw holding the roller not tightened. fixed the little sucker now it works like magic. the trick is remove the spring from its little plastic holder and then rewind the string on the spindel thingy very carefully, one you have it right then tension the line. worked just fine for me
