Foiled again!

Got the Griot's small horn in the mail, put the car up on jackstand (1 on left side), got all the tools ready to swap horns in about 30 minutes and.....

no go! Several issues, the big one being I couldn't find room for the new horn in front of or behind the mounting bar and have everything lined up as required. After several trys from the top and going in through the wheel well I bagged it. Must be missing something. And of course, managed to break a side skirt clip (jacking error) and lose two of the pins that hold the fender skirt on.

Good news is the stock horn is back on and it works so cheated death again.

I had to physically cut a piece of the side skirt out to make room for the horn (mini Stebel). I also had to use a scrap piece of metal to make a bracket extension that fit perfect on the factor bracket that holds the OEM horn. Maybe you need to do something similar to get yours to fit?

Do you have to install the airhorn using a relay or not? What are the pros/cons?

I installed following the directions of SMART.
No problems and works very well.

I know it has been some months since you did the install. Today's install here finds the horn aimed directly through the triangular cutout in the shield. Have you encountered water issues? Only you mentioned it, but any input welcome.

I spent some time across the river from you at RPI a long time ago. Some fond memories those.

Ciao
