Wanted: Mounting hardware like used on CD storage accessory

The ability to snap accessories into the smart fortwo is really cool. A price of over $100 to store a dozen CDs is definitely not cool. Nor is the fact that the snap-in accessories seem in consist of just two items: A 6CD storage unit and "smoker's kit" (which, to most non-smokers, is about as appealing as a passenger seat bedpan).

So I'd really love to be able to get, aftermarket, just the mechanical mount that connects to the column holding the 12V power outlet. Think of all of the cool stuff we could do with those. We could put gauge pods on them, Scangauges, power centers with 120V inverter, 5V USB, and additional 12V power outlets, cell phone holders, iPod holders, XM/Sirius radios, rechargeable flashlights... And way more stuff than I've thought of, I'm sure.

If we had these mechanical mounts, we could attach them to any number of existing products to quickly and easily adapt them to snap right into our smart fortwos.

Anyone like this idea? More importantly, any companies interested in making these mounts?

i don't think it would be too hard to come up with...it's just a plastic clip--nothing mechanical. it would simply be a matter of getting the right shape. i support this idea!
