I'm getting brushed aluminum, not real worried about that cracking. Fit and appearance, yes, cracking no. Either way, I'll post my experience and results when it arrives and I get time to install it.

The Expedition has had the brushed aluminum in place for 3 years and I have not experienced any cracking or lifting. The key is cleansing the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. I had low expectations when I installed this on the Expedition because of the buildup of Armour-all like products. But I spent a lot of time cleansing with the alcohol. As for "theier" quality/appearance, that is each person's call. I put down $5.00 and ordered some samples. These are flat dash kits, I admit molded kits would be nicer but no one has them. Those would cost a bit more,I'd be willing to pay.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll scrub really well with alcohol before applying. It's reassuring to hear that you had a good experience with the brushed aluminum I ordered.

There is one thing I hate that companies do.

We all know that the lambo doors retail for $1495 everywhere.
So why does this company seem to think it's ok to claim the retail price is $2795 and therefore buying from them is saving you 47%.

I thing that's a misleading selling tactic and one that would put me off buying anything from them.

"real brushed aluminum" installed

Here are some pics of their "real brushed aluminum" kit installed. Is it a bit over the top? Well, to borrow a phrase from one of the candidates, "You betcha!" (And, I didn't even install all the pieces that came with the kit.) But, if you want to be low key and anonymous, you wouldn't have gotten a Smart in the first place.
As far as the kit is concerned the quality is good (I do have billet goodies from several vendors to compare these with) and the installation is easy. Now, only time will tell how well it holds up.

In the console view, the two pieces on top of the console are from Smartbillet. The kit comes with pieces for that area but I had already installed these so I only used their long "surround" piece.

I think I am going to go with the real carbon fiber for my red interior Smart. The orange and black is nice but too loud for me. Called in by phone , gave me almost 10% off Use the 800 number and extension posted above talk to Chris..

For the aluminum - I don't think it is over the top. LOOKS GREAT! Now I'm having a hard time deciding. None of their colors match my car (at least what the color will soon be - 11 days to spray date)
