Blowing car fuses

I just added an amp for my component speakers and as soon as I turned the key to acc fuse 20 blew. Fuse 20 is a 10 amp fuse, and since I'm running a double din head unit plus now an amp I'm assuming I need to pull more than 10 amps. I have no idea if I'm right or not, so my question is basically, assuming I'm just pulling more that the fuse supports for all the new electronics, would it be safe to add a higher rated fuse? Or am I completely wrong and just wired something incorrectly?

Blowing fuses means you are doing something wrong.... The amp power wire should go directly to the battery, not to you acc wires... the amp has a "power" on/off wire that can go to the "acc" wire of your radio.. hope this helps..

When making this wiring correction, make certain that the main power lead from the battery to the amp is protected by an in-line fuse that is rated per the amp manufacturer's spec.

I do have the amps power cable going directly to the battery; I have the "remote turn on" going the the acc wire. Though the in-line fuse might be a problem, I have a 50 amp fuse in-line but the amp manufacturer suggests 60 amps. I'll try changing that.

Update: I replaced the 50 amp in-line fuse with a 60 amp fuse and all is well. Thank you guys for the help.

The 60 amp "vehicle protection" fuse is what's recommended by the manual. Not sure what kind of impact that'll have on the rest of the car's systems.. that's a big jolt for power-on, as the amp is rated 850 watts total power.

Maybe it's not so bad... there looks to be a 200 amp main fuse with a 50 amp fuse downstream.

C300.2 (2/1 Channels) 2/1 Channel stereo or mono car amplifier from Polk Audio
