Give your local retailer a try. We sell computers at competitive prices, accessories (cables, etc) at far less than the big guys (that's where they try to make their money), and our service rates are typically less..plus we know what we are doing. We also assist our customers who bought mail order before they met us...We've had techs in from a large company three days this week working on a customer's in-warranty server from a mail order place (rhymes with "hell"...which is what the customer has been going through for the last two weeks.) We talked the folks from the computer company into throwing in the towel and building the customer a new server to replace the clunker that they can't seem to fix.

The same thing goes for a local photography shop in our town. You may pay a little more for the new camera than you would at CC, but the folks at the local shop actually know what they are selling and they price things so they can STAY in business. They also contribute back to the community, which is something that you typically DON'T see from the national chains.

When shopping online for stuff for my smart car, I check out the folks who are sponsors for this website.

No issues. They were a good retailer in their day. I do hate to see 30,000 people lose their jobs. My fear is BBY will have a monopoly on the consumer electronics business and cause prices to go up, service to down.

Please support your local or specialist electronics retailer. A lot of those guys are good business people, sell great products and have great service. When you find a good one, share it with the forum.

Life after CC will be fine.

I went in to best buy for a camera yeterday and there prices were higher than Best Buy. So, I got in my car and went over to best buy to spend my 400 on a camera. Pretty much everyone was walking out empty handed.

yeah...some guy on the news was interviewed this morning leaving cc and he said he got an additional 10% off a big screen TV....that doesn't sound like the bargains are happening the way people think.

Well i was looking at a fujifilm camera the ones that look like dslr's it was 280 at circuit city with 27 dollars off. Brings the total too 253 the same camera was at Best buy for 239. so even with their percentage your still paying more than its worth. So I walked into bestbuy and bought the better camera bc their customer service was better and talked to me about different cameras for about 30 mins. So I walked out with a Sony DSC-H50 which was about double the price of the Fujifilm

Sale is a joke so far. I don't understand why so many people were in line to save 10% of crap that is already marked up 10%-20% more than normal.

If I were the guy liquidating cc I would do exactly that. Jack it up and let the free publicity bring in the suckers over the weekend. Then next week I would spend a few bucks on some ads and try to fool more people into thinking there were going to be even better bargains now without changing my prices. Have a couple of loss leaders like copying paper and headphones to make it believable. These guys do this for a living. The really good deals on the good stuff probably go to insiders (friends, employees, etc.) The rest is all a game.

Yeah. Signs saying 30% off on the outside but that is only on cables and tv stands. Most everything is only 10% off and yes the prices were nothing special and their were a lot of bare spots on the shelfs already. IF I was a supplyer I wouldn't have been shipping anything to them for a while.

The folks ahead of me in line had a smart question. Since the signs said everything in the store 10% off they asked if they could get an iTunes Card at 10% off. No go.
To make matters worse, the computers didn't automaticly discount anything, the cashiers has to discount every item manualy.

Same here. 10% off. Can do better at best buy or local retailer or ebay. It was worthless.

The reason they went out of business is the minute you walk in the glass door it smells like the worst BO I have ever smelled! Anyone else partake in that? It is nasty and every CC I have been too is the same way.

It made me not want to go! LOL!
