Dash Tweeter Installation

Anyone got any tips or tricks to mounting tweeters in the dash? I have the Alpine 600C speakers. The door speakers fit fine but I am unsure how to install the tweeters. If I can't figure it out I might switch to the straight 600 speakers with the built in tweeter. Anyone know if you can keep the factory grill with the 600 model? I really want to keep the original grill.

Also, if anyone has installed tweeters in the mirror cover how did you do it? It seems like this would be a better idea.

I will post some pics once the install is complete.

Alpine 600C speakers (for now)
Tried JL Audio speakers and they will not fit without some painful modification.

Radio was easy to install. The wire harness from 4SmartCar makes it very easy.

Door Removal - Pretty easy just took my time

If you want to use the DVD while driving just take the parking sensor wire and put it with the black ground wire. For those of you that have something to say about this. I WON'T be watching a movie while driving. It simply makes it easier to use.

Thanks,
Chris

i think you have to take the whole top dash off. the top dash panel overlaps the tweets.

Thanks, I gave up and went with the standard Alpine 600 speakers with built in tweeters. They fit perfect with the original grill covers. No modifications necessary. Sound pretty good too. I am going to add a sub-woofer at some point to clean the sound up.

My install went pretty well. A couple of rookie mistakes but no big deal. While the panels are easy to take off they are kind of a pain to put back on. Lots of trial and error. Other than that I am really glad that I did everything myself.

Adding Tweeters to Radio9

Hello All:

Could tweeters be connected to the existing wiring with the Radio 9 unit?
Thanks.

Yes, There will be an extra set of wires for the tweeters . That would be for the upgraded sound system from Smart. Plug/Play. Use the an adapter from any of the venders on this site, for the proper connections. Any problems look up any of the MODS found in the audio/video MOD's.

Mounting A-Pillar Tweeters -My experience

I installed some Infinity component tweeters (6020cs) in the A-pillars and didnt find a lot of clearance room behind the plastic panels.

I managed to get them flush mounted with significant modification (grinding down) of the baskets the tweeters come with, but the mechanical connection (large threaded plastic ring) would no longer work, as I had ground down the threaded section of the baskets. High temp hot glue and a prayer are holding them in pretty well sofar, but even with the modification of the mounting system the little speakers still hit the "tridion safety cell" and dont allow the pillar panels to sit as completely flush as they did from the factory. I could probably get the panels to sit flush again with continued grinding of metal and plastic.

In the end, surface mounting on the a-pillars may be the best option for someone with larger tweeters who hasn't already drilled the holes.
