Did I forget to hook up aux jack cable?

Hi all,
I installed a radio9 in my pure; when I put it in, there were two rectangular connectors behind the dash, each with multiple wires running to each connector. I plugged those into the back of the radio (self explanatory, really) and then hooked up the antenna coax. Installed radio.
Everything works, except the AUX in jack from the glovebox. We get no sound whatsoever through AUX jack (son's Ipod). Is there another separate cable that I shoulda plugged in to stereo, or might I have a jumper cable / ipod problem?
Any help appreciated as I am not in a position to take dash apart again 'til sunday,
Brian

The small rectangular connector is for the Aux jack. If the connectors you attached were the same size, it's the two-piece connector for the radio. If they were different sizes, it would be the one piece radio connector and the aux jack.

Hmmm....confused. I hooked up 2 connectors that were the same size. Only difference between the 2 were that the "tabs" were flipped around, so each one would only fit into it's proper slot. Radio had one more spot for a rectangular connector- about a 10 or 12 pin connector would plug in there- but there weren't any more loose connectors behind dash, except I saw the small one that'd go to dashtop gauges. I couldn't have hooked up radio wrong, as radio works fine.
In the meantime, we've ruled out the Ipod and jumper cable, as they work in our other smart. So, I guess I am doing exploratory surgery on the dash sunday, if nothing else....

You don't have the Aux plugged in.... there's a third small connector that has to be connected. If I remember correctly it's yellow.

I did have an old picture in my gallery!

This is the back of a smart radio with only the aux jack plugged in. It's gotta be hanging back there somewhere.

Click on the picture if you'd like a bigger image.
