DIY Installing Component Speakers (door, alternate)

How to install Component Speakers. I know there has been talk about it, I took on the challenge today. Follow all the directions to pull the door panels off. PIONEER TS-D720C 260-watt 6-3/4”

First step: make sure doors, mirrors, and front end are completely removed.
Follow evilution step by step instructions Evilution - Smart Car Encyclopaedia

second: remove old speakers. follow cubefx instructions how to put speakers in http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...llation-10509/

1. first step to install component speakers.. Run the wires. (note 6 wires for each door 3 pos 3neg)

zip tie has to be cut where the wires run through in order to make them fit.

2. HOW TO WIRE DOORS
wire all POSITIVE (red) wires first. Start with the factory speaker plug (on drivers side cut the plug off the green and green with brown stripe, the green wire is positive so wire that with a red wire just installed) Next positive wire installed will be for speaker( run a red wire to the positive side of the speaker, use a crimper to connect the fitting to the wire then slide fitting to the speaker) last wire for positive will be for the tweeter, the positive wire goes through the door again and straight up to the back of mirror

zip tie has to be cut where the wires run through in order to make them fit.

Here are the wires for the tweeters

3. Wire all NEGITIVE (black) wires next. Start again the factory speaker plug again ( connect black wire with green with brown stripe wire) then connect black wire to fitting using the crimper and slide on small part of the speaker. Then last wire feed up through door to tweeter behind the mirror

4. Tape up all wires together as tight as possible with electrical tape from door (follow picture as shown to route wire)

5. Run driver side wires to the fire wall and you will see a grommet where all the wires come together cut a tiny slice to allow all the wires through

6. Next wire the passanger side the same way but on this side you will have to make your own hole on the fire wall as shown use a 13/32 drill bit to make hole

7. next electrical tape it I put my wires through for legth first then pulled them back out to tape them up.

A close up of wiring through the door

The hole you need to use

8. Now you can wire the cross overs inside the car

crimp all connecters on to wire then connect wires to crossover box as directed neg and pos to woofer, neg and pos from factory plug to where amp hooks up and then the tweeters to where tweeters hook up (it tweeters are too loud when installed, remove pos from crossover box and put it on the -3 space on the far side to lower volume from tweeters)

Next you will need a hole saw that will fit your tweeter size here is the outcome

Here is with the door closed

Lastly hide the crossover box under the dash.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me

The sound is so much better no amp will be needed

if you put the X-over in the door cavity, you dont need to do any of the wire running through the firewall or taking the front panels off........

No then when a wire comes loose or something happens, I have to pull the door panel off every time no thank you. Plus when I add an amp I do not have to pull the doors back off.

I've personally heard your new system.... you won't need an amp for that thing.

Why on earth would you drill a hole in your bulkhead when there are several perfectly usable grommets all around the car?
