Factory Sub question

Won an auction for a factory subwoofer on E-Bay the other day. (sorry if I outbid someone on here!) This Evilution page, Evilution - Smart Car Encyclopaedia says you need to wire the sub into the stereo. I thought it was just plug and play. Which is it?

Did you also receive the wiring harness and plugs with it?...

[I presume you're connecting it to a radio 9? If so, you'll need the 'woofer connector plug and floorboard wiring to hook everything up to the back of unit. Or, just get the 'woofer plug and add your own wiring under the driver's floorboard area to the back of the radio head.]

I thought I read that the wiring was already under the seat, below the carpet. Getting hooked to a radio 10. Here is the quote I read on here. I will contact the guy who wrote it and see if its correct or not....

"Wiring is already in place under the carpet and is easily pushed through the pre-slit hole. The subwoofer is powered through this connector and delivers the bass from the right/left speaker channels that are feed to this connector as well."

I sent a PM to paroyboy. The wiring is there in all 451s. You can also look at somesmart.info/Radio10plus.pdf for a guide I put together when I took out my subwoofer for sale since my upgraded speakers overpowered the subwoofer.

I have personally installed a subwoofer in a car that shipped without. The connector was right where it should be.

I'm not sure why you think air conditioning would affect a factory under-seat subwoofer but go for it! I took the subwoofer out of my cabrio which came with A/C.

Installed the sub this morning by myself. Didnt remove the seat or unhook any wires. There was a wire holder on the front seat frame that needed to be pulled off. Took the four bolts out of the seat brackets, put my hand between the seat bottom and back, lifted the seat and slid the sub in. Hardest part was finding the sub connector under the carpet. I eded up sliding my hand under the carpet from the door sill side and feeding it through the "X" cut in the carpet. All together, it took maybe 20 minutes. Sounds alot different than I thought it would. Yes, in a good way!
