factory sub question for anyone who's removed the seats

I haven't had my seats out yet to look (...wife is on the 'plenty of other cars, leave the one under warranty alone' kick) so if anyone has had there seats out already, will the factory subwoofer fit under the passenger seat as well? I'd rather not build custom enclosures and would prefer to keep the stock and stealth approach.

Thanks in advance.

I pulled my sub and sold it, and wanted to check but boxed it up before I remembered lol..

From the looks of it I don't see why not. The underseats are about the same on either side.

It's only 4 bolts, took me all of 5 minutes to remove the thing. You don't have any tamper paint on those bolts so I say go ahead and try it

By the time you buy another factory "sub" and figure out the wiring to get a second one working, you'd probably be better off with a basic aftermarket for the same price and much much better performance. There is tons of room under the passengers dash. That is where my sub is going. I could have fit a 10" but chose to go with a top of the line massive 8". Even with something very basic it will easily outshine the factory "sub". I hesitate even calling it that because when I removed mine, we all had a good laugh. It looked about like a 4" speaker in a relatively flimsy plastic box. You aren't going to get much improvement by adding another of those. Even though I am in to high end audio, I don't mind a good factory upgraded system. Unfortunately this was by far the worst I have ever experienced and definitely not worth the upgrade. When the system is finally finished tomorrow, audio system will finally match the cool factor of the car... And it was all kept factory looking and invisible. That's my two cents. But to answer the question, it does appear to fit under either side, just have to figure out the wiring if you decide to go that route.

DO NOT unplug your seat wiring. If you do so it will trip the faulty airbag light and this will mean a trip to your smart center to reset it. I know. I installed a BOSS sub behind the passenger seat. TONS of POWER. In fact I have to leave it almost all the way down or it simply overpowers the factory stereo.

Yep, Just did exactly that. Unplugged the seat to try to fit a sub and now the airbag light is on. I guess it's time for a trip to the dealer.

If you disconnect the battery and then unhook the seat wiring, will that keep the airbag light off?

Ok, I am looking to do a minor upgrade from the factory system when me car is in. I don't what an earth shattering system just something better than the factory set-up. Since I don't have the car yet and I want to start looking around, can I get some feedback on changing the door speakers, the sub and possible adding rear speakers? I'm in Chicago so if anyone has a good stereo guy ...........
All the threads/ posts I am reading look to be WAY over powered and complicaited for me.

rear speakers would be a waste

In my opinion, and many others who are in to high end audio, rear speakers would be a waste for a two seater. Just like listening to a good stereo system at home, you don't need speakers behind you when listening to music. Focus your budget on a high quality set of front speakers and a good amp. If you can do a sub under the dash, go that option as well. I put 6.5" JL Audio component speakers in the door. They required minimal trimming (1/8") and will allow the factory speakers to go back in later. I put a JL Audio 10W3 in a box under the dash and I used two Alpine digital amps, one under each seat. I lost absolutely no space at all. The sound is fantastic and you can't see any of the components, so no one knows there is an upgraded system...well until they listen to it and are blown away.

There is an AMT box under the other seat so I doubt there is room for the sub on the other side.

Just had my airbag light reset at the dealer after the seat removal. The tech there said to make sure you do not have the key in the ignition when the seat is unplugged or the fault will register.
