My only gripe with the in-dash DVD units is you lose the 6 disc CD changer in the Radio 10. The mp3 crowd won't care, but some of us still prefer CDs (actually, I prefer vinyl but the in-car record player is no more.)

Do the pioneer units do GPS maps from internal memory now? When I was looking for the May 2008 purchase, these usints required the maps DVD to be in the unit at all times. So for the Pioneers I was looking at, one couldn't use GPS and have DVDs played at the same time.

As for multi-disc CD changers, most manufacturers have those available as add-ons to the head until. It may not be "in the same box" but it's usable.

The newer Pioneer units do indeed pull their maps from internal (or SD) memory now, leaving the disc drive free. I have absolutely been looking at the AVIC units, but the prices are a little offputting, when I dont know what I'm going to need to spend to get my speakers set up how I want them.

The 500bt isnt actually an in dash unit if I recall. It's just a large flat item that you can sit on top of your dash. That's not appealing to me. Once I'm all done with everything, I'd like it all to look pretty clean.

I have been eyeballing the 700bt, 900bt and 90bt, which look like they may be around the lines of what I'm after. Of course, they cost nearly as much everywhere as I can find the newest version for. I've found the x910 down to $7xx, which makes $6xx for the older units a little harder to swallow.

I'm fine without a disk changer. I mostly do mp3 and radio. I have a large collection of CDs, but after I rip them to my computer they tend to just get boxed up and stored.

how about.
dnx512ex plus dash kit, wiring kit and ipod cable for 699.99+8.99 freight..

same as ddx5120 but with a better warranty.

will play the iphone like an ipod (controls it with cable, but loses phone capability) or will play via blue tooth and you control the iphone by hand (still retain phone use)

ps. this is a super secret deal for scoa members only!

I stand corrected! I meant to say F-700BT. I've seen recently on the web for $200 to $300. I paid $570 for my F-90BT in June. That's about $150 less than I paid in May for my F-900BT which is one notch down in Pioneer's feature hierarchy.

SmartTech, I have looked at that one, but if I go the more expensive nav unit route, I will want more functionality from the iphone connection. Charging while either listening to music or making calls would be a must, if I am going with a higher end unit.

Florida, I'm interested! I have not seen the 700BT any lower than around $500 from anyone that actually had them in stock. While I dont know that I think the 700 would be perfect, at a <$300 price point, that would probably be enough for me to call it good. Should you hear of another sale of that sort, I'd love to hear about it!

So this isnt about the head unit, but I had been wondering about an underdash sub enclosure to help fill out the sound. But now I'm thinking a Boss Bass or similar mini powered sub might take care of all I need out of a sub, and probably cost a good little bit less, as well as be easier to hook up.

I've read all the threads I could find on here about the units I know the names of. I havent seen any that actually do fit under the seat, which would be pretty awesome in my mind. Has anyone found one that does in fact fit?

Or, has anyone found that mounting one up above the passenger foot well was super easy and didnt involve drilling holes, etc?
