How to conceal the Ipod wires.....

I thought I saw a thread on this but I can't seem to find it. I want to be able to re-route the Ipod cable inside the glove box out to the 'right-side' cubby hole near the steering wheel. Does anyone know how to do that?

I do not want to leave a cable hanging from the glove compartment. That's a sure sign that there's an Ipod in the car. It also looks messy.

I would appreciate any inputs. thx

Sounds like more work than it's worth. I agree that the location of the iPod jack is strange. When I leave the car, I simply put the iPod and cable into the glove box.

i think the input in the glove box is to conceal it so you dont get your car busted in to. I think its a great spot plus my iphone sits great right along the ledge, no need for a holder or anything, then pop it in the glove box and no cords in sight..

I don't mind going through a little work to get this done. I know the Smart is pretty easy to disassemble and assemble again.

I took apart the front panel apart when did my Scangauge install so a little bit of elbow grease is fine.

Questions

I'm going to ask a really dumb question. I have an ipod, but never hooked it up to a car before.

-I see in the images where the plug is in the glove box... Where do I get the cable to go from the ipod to the plug and what is the proper name?

-Also does the radio control the ipod or do I still have to use the ipod to navigate the songs?

Any info would be great.

No dumb question, just dumb answers, now and then...
Check this previous post of mine:

The cable mentioned is about one foot long. If you go "behind" the glovebox, you may want to find a longer cable. But you'll get the idea...
Those wil NOT allow to control the iPod/iPhone from your radio. For that, you'll still have to use the device's own controls.
Anything else?

Push the original socket out of the hole, get a 3/4" grommet to fill the hole it leaves. Take out the stereo and drill a 3/4" hole in the other side so it exits where you want it to. Push the aux socket into the new hole. Replace the stereo.

I do the same thing. I don't listen to my iPod that often, but it's not a big deal when I do. I just let the cord hang out of the glovebox and put my iPod in the right-hand cubby hole. When I get out of the car, I just put it back in the glovebox.
