how's your hearing. i guess i have out grown the need for that much bass. nice box build, but way too loud for me. o i forgot to ask. what did u add to compensate for the high current draw from the amp. the little car can't take that pull from the amp.

Nice install bud, very neat, would'nt have thought to use perspex, I used the old MDF and black speaker carpet in my install.

As I am sure not everyone see's a point in purchasing an 8ft long car that can only carry 2 people. But that didn't stop you from buying your Smart now did it? Different opinions and ideas are what make us human.
Good point (highlighted). And, glad to know you won't rattle the windows in my house, nor set off the alarm in my car.

I use an Ohio Generator alternator ( Home ) and a Optima Yellow Top battery.

P.S. Age has nothing to do with it. I see you are only 31, you are a still a young-in. (I'm 43)

I've used MDF for all of my other installs, but wanted to try something different for this one. I have to admit MDF is 100 times easier to work with. I'm not sure if I'll ever build another all acrylic box again.

very nice but wont 3/8 flex?

also where did you mount your amps?
i am putting mine behind the seats i dodnt want to run wire throught he jamb to put the in the tailgate

it took a lot of searching to find an amp that fits behind the seat with out being above the horizontal plane of the hatch area

soundstream stealth amps are what i choose in the end

Ohio makes an alt for the smart? ill have to call gus up and get one thats great news

Not at all, 3/8" acrylic is MUCH stronger than even 1" thick MDF. I build much more powerfull and bigger sub boxes out of 3/8" MDF (See the photo of my xB in this thread for an example) so using 3/8" acrylic to be honest is overkill, but it looks great.

Keep in mind I used acrylic, not Plexiglass... big difference.

Both of my amps are behind the seat. I can' put them into my tailgate as that's where the "roof rails" are stored for my cabrio. I don't have any spare space in the tailgate like you hard top guys do.

Here is what I used.
Elemental Designs

I used one made for a Toyota I got used from Craigslist. Had an Electrical Engineer friend of mine to help me with the setup. OhioGen can custom make one for your smart, but it's not gonna be cheap (but I'm sure you know that already).

That sub looks great! What are you using for amps and your other speakers?

I also just upgraded my system (again)! I'm using a Pioneer AVIC-Z3 head unit into (2)Audison poweramps. One Audison LRX5.1K that powers a Focal 165krx3 system which consist of (2)6.5" woofers in the doors,(2)3" mids, and (2)tweeters(the mids and tweeters are mounted in the windshield a-frames),and a Focal 33v1 13" subwoofer in the back. The second amp is an Audison LRX2.4 that powers an 8" JL sub under the dash.We lined the inner door skins with Dynamat Extreme and the outer door skins are lined with Blackhole Tile Blocks. The system puts out about 1830 watts and is not only capable of tearing your head off,but can do it while sounding AMAZING!!!

Peak 1830 or 1830 RMS? From your equipment I'd say peak. Got any photos?

The front is still 100% stock. That's next on my list.

What happened to your JL stuff?
