iphone 3g and the smart: no need for Bluetooth

I dont know how or why BUT when i plug my 3G ipod into my smart AUX input and answer calls i hear the call on my main car speakers and when i speak people can hear me loud and clear, even autocuts the music.

Heads up to anyone looking for a bluetooth for their smart NOT NEEDED!

With a BT I can dial, answer the call, hangup, see who is calling, etc. I can do all of it from my head unit. This way I never touch the phone when I am driving. Also it is cuts the music from ANY source (CD, XM, FM) when phone in use.
I NEED my BT!

Some people are on a budget and some are not, kudos if you can afford it.

OP is suggesting an option that some people may not be aware of, but if go for a BT unit if your budget permits.

If you have or are willing to switch to AT&T or crack it on T-Mobile.

AT&T= $700 deposit
T-Mobile= $350/ post paid-pre paid plan

Staying with your current carrier=

Frustrating as $#!* but cheaper.

The idea was for those like me who dont have a BT on the car and need cheap hands free, the BMW has it which is great and integrated. This thing is 75% as good and was free.

The idea wasnt for people to run out and get an iphone just info im sure 3g iphone users with Smarts would love to know

Yes you can hear it but they can't hear you... The mic won't pickup that far... tried it a year ago when we got the car.

hmmm we paid $200 for each of our Iphones less than a year ago... and with the version 3 release today they're still only $200 with the standard 2 year contract. I have the unlimited data and 1000 minutes and it's much less than what I was forking over to the felons a Verizon.

Ummm...

I don't think you tried it with a 3G iPhone a year ago, since they've only been out, what, one day now?

Not trying to argue the point, I'm just saying maybe things have changed a bit since then...

The iPhone 3G (version 2) is about a year old. The 3GS (version 3) is a day old.
